Is There A War On Higher Education?
Here's my latest piece over at the Loop about the war on higher education. I am sure this will come as a huge surprise, but the battle is getting much worse. When it comes to the for-profits, they are winning. Big time.
The universities and colleges - including the for-profit trash pits - have been engaging in an academic arms race, since the 1970s. At least, decent jobs for college grads were plentiful back then.
The U.S. job market has contracted, thanks to automation and globalization. The schools have now turned their guns on the students. The tuition has SKYROCKETED, for no valid reason - other than unmitigated greed on the part of university administrators.
When the students cannot find jobs - because there are not enough jobs for college graduates - the schools then blame the students for their failure. This is atrocious conduct, and the pigs should be sitting in prison cells for perpetrating a fraud against the students and taxpayers.
Just found your blog through a link from Third Tier Reality. I love and admire what you are doing here and the compassion you show for people who have been less fortunate than you. One person can make a difference.
